Princess Kylar

Last weekend Kylar went to her friend Maddie's birthday party at Chelsea's Tea Room and had a great time! After getting all dressed up in beautiful dresses, the girls were treated to a little pampering, a lesson on manners, and a tea party of course! Glam girl...Kylar getting her nails and make-up done.

Maddie and Kylar picking out the perfect necklace to compliment their dress. With a little chant and the touch of her magic wand, Kylar turns her tea into "Giggle Tea". For a couple days before the party, Kylar was really worried about it being a tea party....she kept telling me, "But I don't like tea, Mommy." Good thing it was really just pink lemonade! Listening intently to the lesson on manners. Hope she picked up a thing or two!

Little Miss Priss -- all prim and proper, Kylar delicately eats a mint. Maybe she did learn a little table manners! Kylar sitting with Maddie in the beautiful carriage as she opens her gift. Kylar wanted to stay there forever with Maddie and I had to drag her off it so the next little girl could have her turn. By the way, she loves Maddie!

4 months old!

Kenzi turned 4 months old this Monday and she went to the doctor for her well-check and shots. She is 10 lbs even (less than 3rd percentile) and 23.25 inches (15-20th percentile). Dr. T did not start her on cereal because she usually waits until 13 lbs. However, we are supposed to take Kenzi back at 5 months for a weight check and she said she'll probably start her on solids even if she's not quite 13 yet since she's showing other signs of readiness. Dr. T was very impressed that she was already rolling over both ways and starting to scoot....she is very advanced for 4 months and being a preemie!
First time in the activity center....what fun!
No, she's not cross-eyed....just really focused on spinning the toy!
Like sister, like sister -- here's Kylar at about the same age with the same exact focus!
All-American Girl -- sporting the red, white, and blue, Kylar is ready to roll (literally). She watched the Olympic Trials this past weekend and was so enthralled with it all. She kept saying, "I'm going to do that!" -- 2020 Olympics?! Maybe so!
Pushing up on the bar and holding herself up for about 3 seconds!

Summer Fun!

Summer is in full swing and Kylar is having a blast! Kylar and Kenzi went to Six Flags for the first time a few weeks ago with us, Nanny, and Pappy (my parents) and Kylar finally got to ride a roller coaster (well, the Mini Mine Train and Wile E. Coyote if those count). She's been talking about them since she was one (every overpass is a roller coaster..."Hands up, everybody!") and she finally got to experience it. We went to Six Flags again this past week with Lee Anne, David, and Tyler. Tyler and Kylar had so much fun going on all the kiddie rides together. It was priceless seeing them experience the thrill of the rides together. They had a great time! Kenzi will be 4 months old tomorrow. She is rolling over, talking, and smiling all the time. I was looking back at pictures from the NICU and it is amazing how much she has grown and changed. She'll be running around with Kylar before we know it. Here are some of my favorite pics from the past few weeks.
Dressing up as a princess just because....isn't she absolutely gorgeous?
Kylar loving Kenzi -- she really does love her and has never once been jealous. They will be best friends. Kenzi and Xander "playing" together. Xander is 19 days older than Kenzi but has about 8 pounds on her. They are cute together!
Turning their heads to watch TV.
Tyler and Kylar hard at play. Ahhh...nothing like a Capri Sun after playing hard.

Ryan & Kristen's Wedding

Ryan and Kristen were married on May 24th in Lakeway. Kylar was a flowergirl and she did an impressive job! After she walked down the aisle holding the ringbearer's hand, she sat down next to me and asked, "Can I do that again?" At the reception, Kylar danced the night away and partied so hard she ripped her pretty dress. Kenzi had a good time just being held by family and friends all night.

Checking out her adorable self in the mirror right before the ceremony.

Dancing the night away with Uncle Ryan.

Welcome to our blog...

After a busy few months of a surprise arrival, countless hospital and doctor visits, working on yearbook, birthday parties, and weddings, I finally have some downtime to create a blog! So to start, here's an update on our family...
Kenzi - she is already 3 1/2 months old....where has the time gone?!? She is still tiny -- about 23.5" and just over 9 pounds. We go to the doctor on the 23rd for her 4 month well-check so I'll have the exact stats then. Kenzi is such a happy baby....she hardly ever cries and is so easy-going. She absolutely loves her big sister....any time she sees Kylar or you say her name, Kenzi's blue eyes light up! And of course she loves Acey too!
Kylar - she turned 3 back on April 5th and she is something else! She is so smart, energetic, and sweet (but can have quite an attitude too)....she's our little firecracker! She just finished the school year in the Montessori I class last week but she'll continue to go 2-3 days a week throughout the summer because she loves school so much. Kylar is still taking gymnastics at Spirals and also swim lessons there this summer. We are planning to start her in soccer in September. Kylar was a flowergirl for Ryan (Adam's brother) & Kristen's wedding in May. She was so beautiful in her dress and even walked down the aisle much to our surprise. Seeing her walk down the aisle brought tears to my eyes (and Adam's too)!
Acey - he will be turning 8 this summer but he still plays like he's a puppy. His favorite things are playing fetch, tennis, and swimming. He's a great big brother!
Adam - he's busy with work which is a good thing. He still works at home as a software engineer and is working with JPL (part of NASA) on Deep Space Network. I think he finally accepted the fact that his only boy will be Acey...he is happy that he has two beautiful little girls and he loves them so much!
Ashley - after six years at Kennedale, I am leaving for a great opportunity in Mansfield ISD. I just got a position as an Instructional Technology Specialist...basically I'll be working with teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum. I am so excited and cannot wait to start in August! I have not returned to soccer after my ACL surgery last year. I still have a lot of rehab to do to get my knee back into soccer shape. Plus I admit I am pretty scared to get out on the field again. I'll be sure to keep away from 200+ lb men when I finally do play.
