Christmas - Part 2

On the 24th, we headed down to Richmond to visit Grammy and Grandpa (Adam's parents). We made the trip in just under 4 hours with no stops!

We spent Christmas Eve with Mike's side of the family at Aunt Wanda's house. Kylar provided the entertainment with her singing and dancing.

Delivering presents....
Last year Kylar got a kid digital camera for Christmas. She took pictures all the time but the pictures were poor quality. So this year we got her a real digital camera and she loves it. Santa even got her a purple Hannah Montana case to match!
Santa brought Kylar a pink bike....just what she asked him for!
And Santa brought Kenzi a "bike" too. As you can see, she loved it! Kylar took Kenzi on a ride since Kenzi's not quite big enough yet to scoot on her own.
Kylar taking pictures -- she took about 50-60 pictures on Christmas Day. Good thing we got her a 1 GB card!
And Santa didn't forget about Acey....he brought him a new rope toy in addition to a new ball and some treats.

We spent Christmas Day at Grandma Sliva's house with all of Debby's family. Kylar had so much fun playing with everybody. She even did makeovers on Mason, Spencer, and Grandpa....they were all such good sports!

Great Grandma Sliva with her three great grandchildren -- Logan, Kenzi, and Kylar.

Christmas - Part 1

Kenzi and Kylar in their matching Christmas dresses and bows -- they were so precious!!
This holiday season has been very busy! We started it off with a visit from Ma and Poppop (my grandparents). They drove in from El Paso and spent a few days here. Kylar had a fun time with them and she loved all Ma's cool Christmas gear. Aunt Bobbe and Uncle Kenny also visited and Kylar performedall her Christmas program songs for everybody (Here Comes Santa Claus, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Feliz Navidad, and Jingle Bells). She definitely isn't shy! Stay tuned...video to come!
Waiting to watch the playback of her performance...
On Tuesday the 23rd we celebrated Christmas with Nanny and Pappy (my parents). Kylar opened everybody's presents for them. Kenzi was more interested in the paper and the boxes than the actual gifts. She did love her doll stroller/walker. She was able to walk with it and she really thought she was big stuff!
Kenzi loves remotes so big sister got her a remote of her very own! Kylar had so much fun going to Target and picking out a present for her baby.
And little sis got Kylar some Color Wonder Watercolors paints.
Kenzi got a chair with her name on it just like Kylar's! She thought it was so cool!
And Nanny got Kylar and baby Allie some new pajamas from American Girl. As you can tell, she was so excited. I just love the look on her face....priceless!

Thanksgiving

I can't believe it's already the end of 2008...the year flew by! A new addition to our family, a new job, and many new adventures made for a great year!
We spent Thanksgiving with my side of the family. Jason and Jen drove down from Colorado with their kids (Baloo - a Great Dane puppy and their cats - Ernie and Olive). My Grandma, Aunt Denise, Aunt Karen, and cousin Caroline also came down from Oklahoma. It was a lot of fun...especially for Kylar! A Christmas book from GG (Great Grandma). Kylar kept Uncle Jason and Aunt Jen quite busy. I'm sure they were worn out by the time they left. The new game this visit was hide and seek.

And Kenzi had fun with Jason and Jen too. Last time they saw her she was just home from NICU and only six pounds. And at Thanksgiving (9 months old), she was 17 1/2 pounds.... quite a change!Dr. Kylar in her vet gear (from Aunt Jen of course). She loves playing pretend so this was perfect!

Baloo at 4 1/2 months and 75 lbs.

Halloween

I know it's been over a month since my last post -- I've been really busy with work and the girls. I'll try to update the blog with more pictures this weekend but for now enjoy the slideshow of all our Halloween festivities.

September Update

Wow! I can't believe it's been over six weeks since my last post. I started my new job on August 11th and I love it. It's weird not being in the classroom but I'm getting used to it. Kylar and Kenzi are into the swing of things at school and both are very happy there. Adam is busy with work as usual. My girls...so gorgeous!! I love the look on Kenzi's face as Kylar has her in a headlock.
They really do love each other so much and they're starting to have fun together! Kenzi gets the biggest smile on her face whenever she sees her big sis. Kenzi is now 6 1/2 months old and has caught Kylar in weight and height at that age. At her well-check on September 3rd (a little more than 6 months), Kenzi weighed 14 lbs 10 oz (20th percentile) and was 25 1/4 inches (30th percentile). Kylar was 14 lbs 11 oz and 25 inches. Kenzi has also started sitting up on her own and is working on the crawling....she can scoot very well. She's eating all fruits and vegetables now so we'll probably try meat in a few weeks. Oh, for some reason Kenzi thinks she can eat frozen yogurt at Jason's Deli. Yesterday Adam was eating his ice cream and Kenzi wanted it really bad and got very vocal about it. It was so pitiful that we ended up giving her a couple licks....we're such push overs now! Sitting up all by myself!!

Snoozing with Daddy!

Splashing with Mommy!

Kylar is a busy little girl. After a two week break, she started back at gymnastics on Monday nights. Next week she'll start soccer and she's so excited. She's on a team with Tyler and we found out yesterday that their jerseys are orange....yuck! They'll have 1-2 practices a week (I'm hoping just 1) and then a game on Saturday. We bought her cleats, shinguards, and socks yesterday and she has tried them on a few times already. She looks so cute!! Anyway, between school, gym, soccer, and birthday parties, Kylar has a full social calendar! We are planning to start Kenzi at The Little Gym in January or February so we'll be real busy!

We bought Kylar a 48-piece puzzle on Friday and she put it together all by herself yesterday morning in about 30 minutes....now she can do it about 15-20. She picks up a piece, looks for a fit....if she doesn't find a fit, she'll sort them into new stacks. Her process is very logical and organized. So smart!

Kylar is working on writing letters and also her name. She had to sign her name on Emily's birthday card... not too shabby for a 3-year-old! A future photographer! Kylar loves to take pictures. She will say, "Okay, Mommy and Daddy, get together and smile...move a little closer," or "Mommy, put your arm around Kenzi and look at the camera." She loves to give direction!

July Update - Kenzi

Wow! I can't believe July is over and I will be starting back to work in just a week. It's going to be tough to leave Kenzi after being with her for five and half months. I know she'll love The Children's Academy just like her big sister so that makes it a little easier.
Kenzi is now 5 months old and we took her for a weight check on the 24th. She was 12 lbs (double her birth weight) so we finally got the green light to start cereal. The first day she did fairly well with the few bites she had and even grabbed the spoon to feed herself. But after she figured out rice cereal isn't that great, she started spitting it out. We tried oat cereal a few days ago and she seems to like that a lot better.
Kylar was a good help as always. Not only does she feed Kenzi, but she also changes her diaper now on her own (just once without my knowing).
Kenzi is very grabby! She'll grab anything and everything she can...toys, cups, plates, food, hair! She almost pulled a big frame off the wall at a wedding shower we went to yesterday. And most everything goes to her mouth too.
Grammy (Adam's mom) came a few weeks ago to visit the girls and she took some cute pictures of the girls. I just love this picture of Kenzi mesmerized with the waterfall soother.
I have to put this on here because her expression is just so funny. Kylar always loved Adam to swing her in her carseat. Well, he tried it with Kenzi about a month ago and she didn't like it so much!
Update: Since these pictures, Kenzi has started to like it and actually laughs now when Daddy swings her!
Kenzi has just started in the jumper. She doesn't do a whole lot of jumping quite yet but she's catching on. The first few months of her life she absolutely hated the swing. She finally has started to like it. You can tell in this picture below how much she's really starting to fill out.
